Hard Disk Drives can often develop bad sectors which will slow down the performance of the drive and therefore slow down the performance of your computer.

To scan and repair your Hard Disk follow the following steps

For Microsoft Windows XP users go to;

• Start > My Computer
• Right-Click on your Hard Disk Drive (usually called Local Disk (C:)) and select ‘Properties’
• Click on the ‘Tools’ tab
• Click the ‘Check Now’ button under the Error Checking section
• Make sure ‘Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors’ is selected and then click ‘Start’ to begin the scan

• If any errors are found then choose to fix them

This process is the same in Microsoft Windows Vista too.
